Elly De La Cruz's 25th home run left his bat at 109.4 mph and traveled 444 feet — the kind of swing that should change a game, except Skubal was on the mound and Los Angeles had already scored three. Skubal struck out five and walked two across 7.1 innings, and the only runs he allowed came on De La Cruz's blast. Nick Lodolo gave up three earned in 4.2 innings and took the loss, undone by Will Smith's first-inning homer and Tommy Edman's RBI hit-by-pitch in the second. Tanner Scott struck out two in the ninth for the save.
