The Angels took a lead in the eighth and Luke Murphy gave it back before the inning ended — four hits, four runs on 31 pitches. Jacob Young's RBI double was the swing that put Washington ahead to stay, and Daylen Lile's triple, his eighth of the season, had tied it the batter before. Jake Irvin walked four and struck out six in five innings, and Zach Neto's home run traveled 440 feet to center. Jack Sinclair needed 12 pitches to close the ninth, and the Angels did not score in their last at-bat.
