The fourth inning is where this one broke — six runs on six hits, four of them scoring before the second out. Matthew Boyd had struck out seven through three and two-thirds, but he left with six earned on his line, the last two coming on Jacob Young's two-run homer to right. Joey Wiemer's home run in the second, a 110.5 mph fly that traveled 398 feet on a 79.8 mph changeup, was the Cubs' loudest contact of the night and also their last lead. Chicago left nine on base and never got closer than five after the fourth ended.
