Smith turned around a 98.1 mph fastball at 2-2 and sent it to center field — his second of the year, 105.1 mph off the bat, 414 feet — and that was the ballgame. Tyler Glasnow had gone six innings, given up two runs on four hits, and struck out six, and he was in line for the loss when Smith connected. Pavin Smith's RBI single in the first and Corbin Carroll's sac fly in the third built Arizona's lead. Freeman's first double of the year, scoring Kyle Tucker in the sixth, got Los Angeles within one. Edwin Díaz needed ten pitches for the ninth.
