Seventy-six pitches got Parker Messick through six innings — five hits, no walks, five strikeouts. Roki Sasaki allowed one earned in four innings on 78 pitches. Steven Kwan's double in the third scored Austin Hedges, and that held until the seventh. Rhys Hoskins walked with the bases loaded and Daniel Schneemann doubled in two more off a 93.4 mph sinker. Cade Smith gave up two in the ninth on Mookie Betts's double — a 96.8 mph four-seam fastball — and Freddie Freeman's groundout. That was the final at 4-2.
