Chase Burns and Jack Leiter each struck out nine, and neither allowed more than one run. Burns went six innings for Cincinnati, Leiter five for Texas, and the game was tied when both left. The difference was the eighth. Robert Garcia walked two of the three hitters he faced and gave up Elly De La Cruz's RBI single on a 95.3 mph fastball to right. Joc Pederson's solo home run in the seventh — a 95.9 mph four-seamer — had tied it for Texas. Brock Burke came in for the ninth and struck out the side on fourteen pitches. Cincinnati left ten on base. Texas left eight.
