Paul Skenes left after 6.1 innings with two hits and one run against him, and the game was still 2-1 when Adrian Morejon entered for San Diego. Morejon threw 20 pitches, faced seven hitters, gave up five hits and four earned runs, and recorded no outs. Nick Pivetta had matched Skenes for five — eight strikeouts, two runs — and the bullpen behind him turned a one-run game into a six-run loss. Oneil Cruz's first double of the year broke a scoreless tie in the fifth on a 94.4 mph fastball at 1-2, and Konnor Griffin's two-run single left the bat at 113.2 mph.
