Jesús Sánchez's first-inning sacrifice fly on a 95.1 mph sinker held up for seven innings, until Tyler Rogers came in for the eighth and gave up consecutive RBI at-bats to William Contreras and Brice Turang. Chad Patrick nearly matched Cease — 6.2 innings, three hits, one run — and Aaron Ashby struck out the side in the eighth to set up Abner Uribe's save. Dylan Cease threw six shutout innings on 106 pitches, struck out six, walked three, and left with a lead the bullpen could not hold. The Blue Jays left six on and committed the game's only error.
