By the time Davis Martin finished seven innings of three-hit baseball, Chicago had a lead that was growing by the inning. Munetaka Murakami's grand slam in the seventh — his sixth homer of the year, measured at 114.1 mph off the bat, traveling 431 feet to center field — was the swing that turned a comfortable margin into a rout. Aaron Civale lasted four and two-thirds, giving up eleven hits and five earned runs, and Elvis Alvarado followed him and walked three in two innings while giving up four more runs. Colson Montgomery drove in the first two Chicago runs, a double in the first and a single in the third, both on cutters. Luisangel Acuña's first double of the season scored another in the fifth. The White Sox had fifteen hits and left ten on base.
