José Soriano walked four and still did not allow a run in five and two-thirds innings, holding San Diego to two hits while striking out eight, and the Padres never found a crack. Matt Waldron left after three and two-thirds having given up six earned runs on eight hits, and the inning that did him in was the second, when Yoán Moncada's third homer of the year started a four-run frame. Adam Frazier tripled for the first time this season, a sharp liner to right that got past Fernando Tatis Jr., and Zach Neto followed with a single through center. San Diego had three hits all night and left seven on base. Jo Adell's double in the fourth drove in two, his second of the year, and Josh Lowe's two-run homer in the fifth — his third — closed the scoring.
