MJ Melendez's first home run of the year put Chicago ahead in the fifth, and it stood until Michael Conforto doubled home Scott Kingery in the ninth to force extras. Javier Assad gave the Cubs five and two-thirds of three-hit ball, and the bullpens traded zeros until the tenth, when Pete Crow-Armstrong — who had tripled earlier — stood on third and Nico Hoerner lifted a fly to right. Bo Bichette hit the hardest ball of the night, a 111.5 mph lineout that traveled 382 feet and changed nothing.
