Sal Stewart put the Reds ahead in the first with a 424-foot home run to center, 108.5 mph off the bat, his eighth of the year, and Rhett Lowder made it stand up. Lowder gave up five hits in six innings, and the one run he allowed came on a bases-loaded walk to Yandy Díaz — 58 strikes in 93 pitches, and he did not allow a hit after the first. The Rays left nine on base. Rece Hinds doubled in two in the sixth on a 91.8 mph sinker at 3-2, and that was the hit that opened the game up.
