Nick Kurtz's home run in the 9th — 110.6 mph off the bat, 438 feet to center — tied the game, and Andrés Muñoz, who gave it up, became the winning pitcher when Seattle answered in the same inning. Joel Kuhnel ended up with the loss: four hits in two-thirds of an inning. Logan Gilbert gave Seattle four innings — six hits, three earned, three strikeouts on 89 pitches — and José A. Ferrer and Matt Brash held the Athletics scoreless for three innings between the 5th and the 7th. Aaron Civale went 5.1 for the Athletics, allowing three earned. Cal Raleigh's 3rd-inning home run and Julio Rodríguez's 7th-inning groundout had given Seattle its leads before Kurtz erased the last one. The Mariners left nine on base, made two errors, and won by one.
