Ian Happ's eighth home run of the year — a 96.5 mph fastball sent 399 feet to right field in the second inning — was the only run the game needed for six frames. Shota Imanaga threw 87 pitches across seven innings, gave up four hits, walked one, and struck out five. Ryne Nelson matched him for five innings, one run on four hits, and took the loss. Seiya Suzuki's sacrifice fly to left in the eighth on a 99.6 mph fastball gave Chicago its second run, and Ben Brown covered the final two innings without a hit for the save. Lourdes Gurriel Jr.'s second double of the year was the only extra-base hit Arizona could manage, and it did not score.
