Reid Detmers threw 68 strikes in 95 pitches, struck out eight, walked nobody — and still left with the score tied, because nine Mets hits found grass off him. The Angels stranded eleven runners, enough to lose this game twice, yet kept coming: Grissom turned around an 0-2 sweeper for a two-run single in the fourth, and Bachman came through with three strikeouts and no hits across 1.2 innings to hold the line. Austin Warren got the tenth after five clean innings from the Mets bullpen and lost on an unearned run, Oswald Peraza's line single to center scoring the placed runner. Warren threw 13 of 20 for strikes, and the run that beat him was the one the rules put on second base.
