Seth Lugo threw 102 pitches in four innings and walked four — the kind of start that puts a club behind early and keeps it there. Kansas City chipped back with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth, pulling within one before Naylor's three-run homer in the seventh, his second of the season, pushed the margin back out. The Royals answered with back-to-back solo shots from Witt and Pasquantino in the bottom of the inning, but that was their last swing. Slade Cecconi got the win with 5.1 innings of two-run ball, and Cade Smith needed sixteen pitches to close it. Lugo's line — four earned, four walks, four innings — is the one Kansas City will circle.
