One hit was all San Diego managed, and the defense that was supposed to help Griffin Canning buried him. JJ Wetherholt's single to right in the fifth scored two — then Fernando Tatis Jr. booted the ball, and two more came around, including Wetherholt himself. Michael McGreevy struck out nine over six innings of one-hit ball, and Gordon Graceffo and Ryne Stanek each put up a zero behind him.
