The Tigers scored three in the second on Hao-Yu Lee's first triple of the year and Matt Vierling's two-run double, and then watched Kansas City chip it back to even by the fourth. Gage Workman had not homered this season when he came up in the sixth with Spencer Torkelson on base and hit a fly ball to right that left the yard — his first, two runs, the lead Detroit would keep. Enmanuel De Jesus threw 2.1 innings without allowing a hit, and Kenley Jansen needed twelve pitches for the save. Kansas City committed two errors and left six on, and the bullpen gave up three runs in three innings behind Noah Cameron.
