Eduardo Rodriguez faced 30 hitters over 8.1 innings and gave up four hits — a complete game in everything but the name, and the Mets never had an answer. Three errors, one run: two of those errors came behind David Peterson, whose three runs allowed were all unearned, the kind of line that follows a pitcher home. Ryan Waldschmidt's first double of the season, a two-run liner to center in the second, was the hit that put Arizona ahead to stay. Ketel Marte tripled in the sixth to make it 5-1, and Juan Morillo got the last two outs on nine pitches.
