Zac Gallen threw 95 pitches and didn't finish the fifth. MacKenzie Gore threw 95 pitches and finished the eighth. Gallen gave up seven runs — four of them earned — in 4.2 innings. Joc Pederson's first-inning homer gave Arizona its only lead, gone by the second when Ildemaro Vargas homered and Jake Burger singled in a run. Ezequiel Duran homered in the fourth, and Texas added three in the fifth on a fielder's choice and two singles. Gore allowed three hits and one earned. The ninth was a mess: Gavin Collyer walked three, gave up three earned, recorded nobody, and Jacob Latz had to come in for the save.
