Shane Baz threw 108 pitches in seven innings — six hits, three runs — and all three scored on two swings. Brady House's sacrifice fly in the fourth brought in CJ Abrams. Daylen Lile's home run in the sixth, off an 85.1 mph knuckle curve, scored Curtis Mead and made it 3-0. Baz struck out four and walked three. Zack Littell gave the Nationals five innings of two-hit ball. Andrew Alvarez gave up two in the ninth — Jeremiah Jackson's sacrifice fly and Gunnar Henderson's RBI single — and Richard Lovelady came in with two on and one out for the save. Baltimore left ten on base. Coby Mayo's single in the second left the bat at 116.5 mph, the hardest contact of the night, and he was stranded at first.
