Michael Soroka struck out eight in 5.2 innings and left with a five-run lead, and then Brandon Pfaadt came in and gave up four runs in a third of an inning to make it close. Corbin Carroll's two-run home run in the fourth left the bat at 111.8 mph and traveled 448 feet to right center. Lourdes Gurriel Jr.'s first home run of the year in the fifth proved to be the difference, because the Rockies scored four off Pfaadt and still fell short by two. Paul Sewald walked one in the ninth but closed it out. Colorado's eight hits and eight men left on base added up to six runs, two short.
