Kevin Gausman threw 61 of his 97 pitches for strikes across six innings and Detroit never solved him — four hits, no runs, no walks. The pitch worth keeping is the 0-2 fastball Vladimir Guerrero Jr. turned on in the first, 91.2 mph, gone to left. Daulton Varsho's first triple of the year came two innings later, a line drive to center that scored Vladdy, and that was the cushion. Detroit put six hits on the card and left seven on base. Jack Flaherty matched zeroes after the first but the deficit was already four.
