The Athletics won on a challenge. In the tenth, Gelof's forceout at first was overturned on review, Kurtz scored on a 91.8 mph slider, and a game Luis Severino had pitched to a standstill was over. Severino struck out ten in seven innings — 73 strikes in 97 pitches — without walking a batter, and left with the score tied because Soriano matched him: 6.2 innings, six hits, two earned, seven strikeouts. Schanuel's two-run homer on an 85.7 mph sweeper at 1-2 gave the Angels their only lead. Kurtz singled in the sixth to cut it in half, Hernaiz singled in the seventh to tie it, and the game stayed 2-2 until the tenth. Ryan Zeferjahn walked two. The Athletics left twelve on base and won by one.
