Arizona led from the second inning until the ninth, and Tomoyuki Sugano held Colorado to two runs over 6.2 innings. But Ryan Thompson, who had already given up the tying run in the eighth, stayed out for the ninth and gave up the single that lost it. Chad Stevens lined a ball to right to score Sterlin Thompson, whose first double of the season had started the rally. TJ Rumfield's double in the eighth had cut the lead to 2-1, and Antonio Senzatela threw 1.2 clean innings to earn the win in relief. Michael Soroka threw six innings of one-run ball and got nothing for it.
