The White Sox tied it 3-3 in the top of the fifth on singles from Drew Romo and Miguel Vargas and a forceout, and then Harrison Bader hit a grand slam to center field in the bottom of the inning — 105.8 mph off the bat, 425 feet — and the lead was six. Casey Schmitt hit a two-run homer earlier in the same inning, and by the time the fifth ended, San Francisco had sent eleven men to the plate and scored six. Erick Fedde gave up 10 hits and 8 earned runs in 3.1 innings. The White Sox collected ten hits and scored three, all of them in the fifth.
