Ray threw 92 pitches in four innings and walked seven. He gave up two earned but put ten men on base. The Giants led 2-1 after one, and Devers was the difference — his RBI double in the first scored Schmitt, and then in the fifth, with the bases loaded and a 1-2 count, he hit a sweeper out to left-center for seven RBI on the night. Casey Schmitt added his eleventh homer in the third, a two-run shot. Schultz took the loss: four innings, six earned, 70 pitches. Chicago scored five runs on four hits, which is a ratio that explains itself. Keaton Winn threw two clean innings for the win, and Kilian struck out the side in the ninth. Ray has now walked 21 hitters in his last three starts.
