Cade Cavalli threw six innings of one-run baseball on 87 pitches, struck out seven, and left with a lead his bullpen spent the rest of the night protecting without ever quite sealing. The damage was done in the second, when Joey Cantillo — 69 pitches, four walks, two innings — gave up Ruiz's two-run single and Wood's two-run homer, and Cleveland spent the remaining seven innings trying to close a gap that never got below three. They left nine on base, scored twice in the ninth, and still lost by three. Nasim Nuñez doubled for the second time this season, and if that sounds small, it is the kind of small that adds up for a kid still finding out what he can do.
