Colson Montgomery hit a three-run homer in the third — his eighteenth — and a solo shot in the eighth, his nineteenth, and the White Sox used five pitchers without finding one who could hold the line. Paul Goldschmidt's three-run homer in the fifth, his eleventh, stretched the lead after Chicago had closed within a run. Carlos Rodón went five innings for the win, striking out seven on 99 pitches. Cody Bellinger opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first, and Anthony Volpe tripled for the first time this season and came around to score.
