Milwaukee scored first and scored again two innings later, and both times Cleveland answered with a home run — Fry in the third, Manzardo in the sixth — because Milwaukee could not build on what it had. The Brewers left 12 on base. Travis Bazzana's seventh-inning home run left the bat at 106.2 mph, the hardest contact of the night, and it was the one that held. Parker Messick struck out nine in six innings, gave up both Milwaukee runs, and still left with the score tied — which is to say he pitched well enough to lose and got something better.
