What followed was a game that refused to settle. Jeffrey Springs walked four and gave up six in under four innings; José Soriano walked four in five. The lead changed three times before the tenth, when Kirby Yates threw ten pitches and only four found the zone. Elvis Alvarado earned it the hard way — two full innings, one hit, two strikeouts — which is more than anyone else who took the mound in this game could say for themselves.
