The Athletics led from the first inning until the ninth, and the night turned on Hogan Harris's eighth. He faced four hitters — three singles, three earned runs, one out — before Elvis Alvarado finished the inning and took the loss. Nick Kurtz hit his 19th home run at 109.2 mph and 437 feet, a two-run shot in the seventh that put the Athletics up 7-3. Reid Detmers left after six innings with five earned on his line, and the Angels scored in the eighth and ninth to pass them.
