Paul Skenes gave up four earned runs in five innings. He struck out seven, threw 96 pitches, and by the time he left, Cincinnati had already built a 5-1 lead — four runs in the second, on singles by Spencer Steer and Tyler Stephenson, a sacrifice fly by Blake Dunn, and another by Elly De La Cruz. Konnor Griffin's first-inning homer, his fifth, had started it. Skenes threw 66 strikes in those 96 pitches, and the Reds put six balls in play against him that became hits. Andrew Abbott gave up four runs in 5.1 innings but left with the lead. Mason Montgomery took the loss. Caleb Ferguson threw eighteen pitches for the save.
