Nathan Eovaldi struck out nine over seven innings and did not allow a run. He walked one, gave up five hits, and threw 92 pitches — and the lead he built nearly disappeared in the eighth. Robby Ahlstrom and Jakob Junis gave up four earned runs in the inning: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. lined a two-run single, and Kazuma Okamoto followed with a two-run homer. Justin Foscue's third-inning homer, on a 77.8 mph slider, had given Texas a 5-0 lead. Jacob Latz walked one in the ninth and needed fourteen pitches to close it. Toronto left seven on base.
