The sixth inning was where this stopped being close: nine Dodgers runs, and Ron Marinaccio walked three men in it after Vásquez had already given up eight hits in three and a third. Betts hit a three-run homer, Tucker added a two-run shot, and Edman tripled for the first time this season after doubling earlier. Yamamoto went six and struck out four, and Miguel Rojas pitched the ninth. The Padres used four relievers and still gave up fifteen runs.
