Cam Smith hit his tenth and eleventh home runs of the season, both solo shots, and Minnesota still needed every run. Zebby Matthews held Houston to one run over seven innings — four hits, one walk, seven strikeouts, 89 pitches — and left with a 4-1 lead. Taylor Trammell's two-run homer off Travis Adams in the ninth cut it to one. Yoendrys Gómez came in with the tying run at the plate and got his out on seven pitches. Josh Bell's two-run homer in the sixth had given Minnesota its cushion. Peter Lambert took the loss: 5.2 innings, four earned, three walks, 100 pitches.
