Twenty-one hits is a lot to give up in nine innings, and the Marlins put them together in every frame except the fourth. Javier Sanoja's three-run homer in the third — his third of the year, on an 86.9 mph slider — was the loudest swing, but the rally in the sixth was just as damaging: three RBI singles in the span of four batters. Eury Pérez struck out eight in 5.1 innings and walked four, and Colorado never got closer than five after the third. John Brebbia gave up five runs on five hits in 1.1 innings of relief, and the Rockies' three runs came in three separate innings that never built toward anything.
