The second inning is where this one flipped: Joe Mack's two-run homer had just put Miami ahead when Houston answered with six — Jeremy Peña's grand slam on a 95.8 mph fastball at 1-2, then Yordan Alvarez with his 32nd of the year. Alvarez hit his 33rd in the fifth, 428 feet at 113.8 off the bat, and by then Janson Junk had given up six earned in four innings. Miami got two back on Liam Hicks's homer in the fourth and left eight on base chasing the rest. Josh Hader gave up a run in the ninth and still finished it three runs clear.
