Three productive outs in the fourth — Jackson Merrill's RBI single, Luis Rengifo's groundout, and Gavin Sheets's sacrifice fly — gave San Diego all the runs they needed. Kyle Hart opened with 2.2 innings of two-hit relief, Griffin Canning followed with three innings of one-hit ball, and Mason Miller struck out two in a clean ninth. Gabriel Hughes gave up three runs in five innings for the loss, and Colorado left seven on base and scored once, on Brett Sullivan's single in the seventh.
