Spencer Jones hit a three-run homer in the first and the Yankees did not score again until the eleventh, by which point Davis Martin's six innings of four-run ball had been matched by a Chicago lineup that kept coming back. Camilo Doval walked two in the eleventh and the tying run scored on a sacrifice fly, and Ryan Yarbrough took the loss on two pitches — a single and Edgar Quero's walk-off line drive to center. Grant Taylor had thrown 2.1 hitless innings before Jordan Hicks got the win, and the Yankees left eight on base in twelve innings.
