Clark's first home run of the year went to right center with Spencer Torkelson aboard — two runs in the sixth that made it 6-2, and for a hitter who'd been waiting for number one, it was the swing that gave Detroit room. Both clubs finished with 15 hits. Framber Valdez gave up nine in seven innings and only two scored, six strikeouts on 96 pitches. Kyle Finnegan faced four men in the eighth and three came around, turning 8-2 into 8-5. Kenley Jansen gave up a run in the ninth and still got the save — two hits, two strikeouts, 20 pitches — and Detroit walked away with a win that had been six runs wide an inning earlier.
