Kyle Harrison matched Paul Skenes pitch for pitch and then separated. Five innings, one hit, ten strikeouts, 69 pitches — 50 of them strikes — and the Pirates did not touch him. Skenes went five as well, struck out six, but walked four, and all three runs he allowed were earned. Christian Yelich doubled in the 4th on an 87.6 mph slider to start the scoring, and Andrew Vaughn followed with a two-run single on a 96.1 mph sinker. William Contreras added a home run in the 6th. Endy Rodríguez hit a two-run shot in the 7th for Pittsburgh, but three hits on the night was all the offense could find. Four Milwaukee relievers allowed one hit the rest of the way.
