Andrew Abbott went six and two-thirds innings, allowed seven hits and three earned runs, and left with a lead. JJ Bleday's twentieth home run in the seventh added to it, and then Brian Serven's two-run shot in the ninth — his second of the year — nearly erased it. Brock Burke got the save despite two hits and two earned runs. Elly De La Cruz's nineteenth home run opened the scoring in the first. Mason Barnett struck out seven in four and a third and still took the loss, having given up five earned.
