Josh Hader threw two innings of relief and did not allow a baserunner — two strikeouts on 22 pitches — and by the time he sat down, the game was still tied. Hayden Wesneski had given him seven innings of three-run ball, and the Giants had taken the lead twice on home runs from Jung Hoo Lee and Drew Gilbert, both times answered by Cam Smith. Jason Foley took the tenth, walked two, and gave up singles to Jeremy Peña and Isaac Paredes — the latter a two-run double. Yordan Alvarez's single in the first left the bat at 118.5 mph and traveled 244 feet, which is what happens when contact meets that launch angle.
