Jo Adell's double left the bat at 111.0 mph in the first inning and scored José Ramírez to tie the game at one. It was also the last time San Diego would produce a run. Joey Cantillo held the Padres to that one hit across six innings and struck out seven. Patrick Bailey's RBI double in the second gave Cleveland the lead for good. Randy Vásquez gave up four earned in five innings for San Diego. The Padres finished with one hit, two errors, and two men left on base. Eleven Guardians hits produced six runs, and the other eight innings belonged to Cantillo and three relievers who allowed nothing.
