Forty-two of Jacob deGrom's 87 pitches missed the zone, and five of those were walks. Chicago scored five in the first inning and eight before deGrom left with two outs in the fourth. Jake Burger's home run left at 110.2 mph, but the lead was already five when he swung in the second. Texas scored three in the fifth and three in the sixth, and still lost by four — the Rangers left 10 on base, and Cole Winn gave up two more on five hits in 1.1 innings of relief.
