Jose Trevino's single to center in the eighth scored Elly De La Cruz and put Cincinnati ahead for good. Adrian Morejon took the loss — two runs on two hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning — and Nick Lodolo gave the Reds six innings with five strikeouts and two earned. Tatis homered in the fifth and again in the ninth, his eighteenth and nineteenth, each a solo shot that could not hold a lead. San Diego left eight on base in a one-run loss.
