Yunior Marte needed 97 pitches to record fourteen outs and left having allowed six earned on eight hits — and the bullpen behind him gave up four more runs before the sixth inning ended. Victor Bericoto's two-run homer in the third was the ball that made it 4-3, and it left the bat at 107.0 mph and traveled 425 feet, but Los Angeles scored three in the bottom of that same inning. Tommy Edman's two-run single capped the rally, and the throw from left fielder Turner Hill got past the bag, letting Edman take second. Tarik Skubal gave back four runs in his five innings and still left with the lead, because San Francisco never held one.
