Cincinnati's first run came on a JJ Bleday homer in the second, and Rhett Lowder made it stand up with six scoreless innings on 79 pitches. Héctor Rodríguez's two-run triple in the fifth, his second of the season, came on an 85.8 mph changeup and stretched the lead to five. Toronto scored once in the seventh off Connor Phillips, and John Klein's four innings of relief — two runs, none earned — were the most distance any Blue Jays pitcher covered.
