Colson Montgomery's grand slam on a 95.7 mph cutter at 0-0 put the White Sox ahead 4-0 before Milwaukee batted, and Chicago added three more across the next two innings against Brandon Sproat. Anthony Kay held the Brewers to two runs, and then the 8th arrived. Chris Murphy faced four hitters and gave up four earned without recording an out. Seranthony Domínguez replaced him and gave up two more. Christian Yelich's home run left the bat at 111.1 mph and traveled 421 feet, and Luis Rengifo's two-run single was the ball that put Milwaukee in front. A bullpen that had allowed one run through seven gave up six in the eighth, and the grand slam that opened the game was a memory by the time Trevor Megill closed it.
